BAVO Community Companions
BAVO’s Community Companions scheme can help people who are over 50 and may need somebody to accompany them when they go out or simply would like company to have a chat and a cup of tea at home.
Volunteer befrienders give some of their own time to offer a listening ear, assist with recreational activities and help people to get back in to community life in a practical and social way.
The Community Companions scheme is a free of charge, confidential and non-judgemental service for people across Bridgend County Borough.
The scheme provides a flexible service for older people who may feel isolated or lonely, building on and complimenting the work of existing services. The person receiving the befriending can choose how often they would like support and what kind of befriending they need.
Anybody supporting an individual in need of some extra support or companionship can refer people to the scheme or there is the option of self-referral.
For more details of the scheme and how to refer somebody, visit www.bavo.org.uk, call 01656 810400 or email: bavo@bavo.org.uk
