It’s important that local communities are ‘age-friendly’ and promote Bridgend County Borough as a place where older people can live fuller lives and are designed to meet their needs. An age-friendly community will see people encourage and enable older people to engage with their surroundings and continue to engage socially within their communities, helping people to maintain their health, independence and wellbeing.

With life expectancy on the up and people living longer, supporting an ageing society has never been so important. Multi-generational communities should become the norm, ensuring that the voices of people of all ages are heard and that they are valued members of society.

We can all contribute to making Bridgend County Borough a great place to grow older for everyone by being caring and vigilant. We are all connected to other local people in some way, whether we are neighbours, friends, family or workers in the community.

Having people of all ages active and engaged and out and about makes for a richer society and creates healthy and happy communities.
