Standing strong

To stay healthy and mobile, it’s important to build in regular activities which keep muscles and joints moving. People who use their core muscles will have improved balance, posture and strength.

Exercise is not just for ‘gym-goers’ – taking a light stroll, visiting the shops, doing gardening or dancing can all help improve muscle strength.

Exercises which promote strength and balance not only help general health, confidence and enjoyment but can also help prevent falling or tripping over. Falling can have a huge impact – as well as the physical problems it can bring, it can also isolate people who are afraid of going out and falling again.

Even people who have become frailer can regain their strength and confidence to live active and healthy lives within their communities.
